It will depend on your preferred climate. The dry season runs from April to October and the rainy season runs from November to March.

Dry season. In the city of Cusco (a mandatory stop for almost all visitors), the weather is rather cool throughout the period and quite cold between June and the end of August. However, Machu Picchu belongs to a subtropical climate, the days are from warm to hot, sometimes a bit cold at night. In the city of Cusco it does not rain during this time, while in Machu Picchu there can be very fast and light drizzles on some days.

Rainy season. On the other hand, in the city of Cusco it rains a lot in these months, but in short periods and 2 or 3 times a week, the same can be observed in Machu Picchu. It is therefore advisable to wear a waterproof jacket or rain poncho. Also, dress in layers, light clothes underneath and a little thicker above, so you are ready for any type of weather.

To know the climate of the Cusco region in detail, read our respective article. You just have to remember that the Machu Picchu area is warmer, because it is on the border of the Amazon jungle.

It will be up to you to choose which is your preference to come and see this Wonder of the Modern World! You can find more information about this aspect in our article about the best time for the Machu Picchu 2 Days tour.

Machu Picchu is located on the border of the Amazon rainforest. In other words, it has a subtropical climate (hot and humid), so the type of clothing that we recommend using is:

If you travel during the rainy season (November – April). The best option is to bring a raincoat in addition to water and wind resistant clothing. But dress in layers, in a way that you can adapt your clothes to changing weather, be it cool or warm.

Even if it’s hot in the morning, always wear a warm clothing. It can be annoying to have to carry it during the visit, but it is better to be prepared for the wind in the late afternoon.

Polo shirts and / or shirts with long sleeves (preferably). To avoid annoying insect bites and / or sunburn.

Cap and sunglasses. A light and comfortable cap will keep you cool. The lenses will allow you to appreciate all the beauty of Machu Picchu without having to strain your eyes.

Sunscreen and insect repellent. They are absolutely necessary. Especially the repellent since the itching of mosquito bites can be very annoying. If you think insects have a particular liking for you, we also recommend not wearing short clothing of any kind. Only use personal hygiene and health products that are eco-friendly, that do not pollute the water. As a guide, you can read our recent article on many biodegradable products to use.

Don’t forget to bring lots of water! Staying hydrated with purified or bottled water is the best thing one can do to stay healthy and energetic while hiking. It will also help you prevent altitude sickness. Just keep in mind that Peru is already under a rule prohibiting disposable plastic in tourism, so you must bring a reusable canteen or bottle.

This aspect is widely consulted and of course it should be in the Machu Picchu 2019 tour frequently asked questions. You will find more details about luggage for a package to Machu Picchu in our article on what to bring to the citadel.

Prohibited objects. It is very important to take this aspect into account as well, to prevent the entry of any of your belongings to the sanctuary and that you have to rent a deposit or locker, whose cost is somewhat high. Our article about what not to take to Machu Picchu will give you all the information in detail.

Perfeito!!!!!

As Vans eram confortáveis.

TOUR 7 LAGUNAS CON DIEGO GO!
